Doc’s LOST Part Two - The Key
Okay folks, here is part two of my LOST ‘Story’ Synopsis. Again, I don’t consider this a theory because I know there is no chance it is correct, but it is an idea that works and explains a few loose threads that we have now, as well as set up an end game. Hope you guys like it!
In the last part, I pretty much set up the basis for my ’story’: a flight attendant named Jacob, and the twin that he never had. How is it possible for Jacob to have a twin he never had? Doesn’t even make sense, right? Here’s my ‘idea’…
It all begins with Desmond turning the key, and his Journey through time. By simply becoming conscious of his journey, Desmond changed things slightly. The most devastating thing to happen was the strike he took at the pub that sent him back to the present. We can assume that the rest of his life was played out the same, but in fact it was not. Even though Desmond’s consciousness eventually traveled back through time to arrive back on the island, the changes that he made during his trip back created a separate time-line governed by a very different Desmond. We’ll come back to him, and Penny, in part three.
In this alternate time line, the universe continued to course correct based on Desmond’s changes, but even the slightest changes have very different outcomes. In this case, in the alternate time-line, oceanic 815 crashes on the island, but the survivors were shuffled somewhat. Most of our favorites survived, still, with the exception of John Locke. Without John Locke, the survivors have a much harder run of things. They run out of food and must turn to cannibalism to survive. Instead of the reasonable and intelligent coming into control, the aggressive take over the beach. After several months, a sickness begins to pass through the camp. People are hallucinating, and hearing voices. Some are worse off than others, and some are not affected at all. The madness grows until a group of them become obsessed with voices coming from the ground. Eventually they are able to read each others minds, and some can project. Now, they have found the Swan station with their abilities, and know of the power within.
As the sickness tightens its grip, a strange presence begins to sweep through the camp. A murderous black cloud that begins to sweep through and pick off the most ‘advanced’ of the sick.
The ones that are not affected decide they need to get away from the beach, but before they can escape the affected find out their plan and the normals are killed, except one. Jacob. Jacob is a flight attendant that no-one knew in the other time-line because in that time line, he was in the tail section and was amongst one of the first to be ‘kidnapped’ by the others. And for good reason, which I will explain in the next segment.
Jacob escapes as the maddened group becomes preoccupied with a threat. They have read the mind of a man locked away in the hatch, and in doing so, they have determined something very troubling to them. The man is aware that he has made changes to the universe which can only be corrected one way, by the turning of a key. This man, Desmond, has purposefully stranded himself on this island for that sole purpose. When that key is turned, the alternate time-line will collapse and they will never have existed because the man knows where he went wrong in disturbing time, and he wants another chance to make things right.
This is unacceptable to the maddened survivors. The horror of their crash, and their struggle to survive is no longer relevant for they have become gods. There can be only one solution, they will prevent the man from turning that key, and then they will use the power within the hatch to infiltrate the primary time line and escape their tenuous tangent universe…
To Be Continued….

I’m very tempted to say you spend too much time with Jeff Jensen, but…damn, even though I think it’s not such a great Lost theory (though prove me wrong with part 3, Doc!), it’s one crazy messed-up mind-bending plotline. Makes me want to go read some Philip K. Dick. You ever try your hand at writing fiction, Doc? I’d wager you could turn this into a stand-alone non-Lost story if you’re wrong. Cheers, Doc!

I would have to agree that your probably wrong, but I do find your theory to be quite interesting. More than interesting actually, it’s great. It would add a whole new layer of depth to the overall storyline. Part 3 Doc, keep’m cooming.=)

Richard Lennox, your arrogance and condescending attitude grows tiresome. But I love you anyway. Pilrat, that is frigging funny, pardon me while I laugh up a lung.

interesting indeed, but c’mon.. “They run out of food and must turn to cannibalism to survive” . so they turn into a bunch of lecters, then all of a sudden can read minds? Must be good eattin. Poor Hurly, you know he’d be 1st.

Um…you should probably cut back on the banana smoking.

Unecessarily complicated and gravely uninteresting.

Story time with Doc. Looking forward to part 3.

Brilliant! The parallel verse, multi-timeline, path crossing plot is brilliant! In fact, if the show goes in this direction (and writes it well!) it could save it from the decline in ratings!
Write for Lost Doc!

That is a very interesting theory! I think the whole twin thing will come into play but I’m just not sure how… In your theory, I am confused about how the twins meet up - I see that there is an alternate reality created but I am not sure how those two worlds collide. I like the idea of the Clair that we know being a twin… Keep the ideas coming!

Hey Dusk, relax. I was giving good ol’ DocArzt a *compliment*. While his theory’s pretty unlikely IMHO, I think it’d make for an awesome story outside the Lost-verse.

Anybody who thinks Donnie Darko pioneered alternate time-line stories is woefully under-read
Comment by docarzt — March 7, 2007 @ 10:17 am
I like the ideas Doc. I think in film and pop culture Donnie Darko is the benchmark for this sort of thing. There have obviously been literature long before Frank the Bunny creeped us out, but for film buffs (like a lot of us Losties are) Darko was pretty damn good. That being said, we all have our theories. This one is original, and originality is vastly needed in the world of film and television. Cannabilism creates the sickness (which has been proven in such cases), and the mad will stop at nothing to keep Des from collapsing their tangent universe. Perhaps the dark territory is what Cerberus is protecting, as it is some sort of gate to this tangent univers Dr. Des created. I still think the others using us to change the Valenzetti code could fit into this. All kinds of possibilities here Doc. I can’t wait for part three.

I can tolerate the slow pace of unfolding secrets, but I have a serious problem when things are just plain unrealistic.
Examples from the most recent episode:
- Hurley gives Sawyer a big hug and glad you’re alive dude, but asks nothing about Jack and Kate, or what happened to the three of them. They had been captured after a gun battle, hoods over their heads, and were standing on a dock where Ben had arrived from somewhere by boat. I can’t believe he has absolutely no curiosity or reaction.
- That VW mini-van (circa 1981?) had been laying in the jungle for at least 25 years…we’re talking about JUNGLE, where things rot faster than in California. Roger Workman can attest to that. How are we to believe that the engine will start, that all fluids are intact, gasoline has not evaporated, and that the tires and suspension can tolerate that crazy drive downhill? Are we to believe that the island voodoo will mysteriously explain all this?
- How does Kate know where to find Rousseau?
Add to that other annoyances, such as
- Why did Kate and Saywer walk back to the castaways’ beach, when they had a boat? Assuming that they hid it somewhere, it is now in an inconvenient place where someone might find it, they can’t get to it in a hurrt, and they will have to hike thru jungle both ways … this is the jungle where Kate saw Locke dragged into a hole by a smoke monster, and where polar bears have been seen…not to mention Others.
- Kate and Sawyer’s relationship returns to pre-kidnap state for no apparent reason. Characters should evolve and change, as a result of their experiences. If they don’t, the show becomes static and unbelievable.
- Nothing of significance was revealed in Hurley’s flashback, as far as I can tell, and the story was not advanced by any revelations (unless you want to count the assertion that Alex is Rousseau’s daughter, which is hardly news to the viewer).
- (And I still want to know what water everyone is drinking! No one ever seems to go to the caves.)
When characters don’t behave realistically, it makes it harder to suspend disbelief. And every time something fails to follow the rules of the physical universe, and then is not explained, it makes the big surprises unsurprising. Hey - if a 25-year old car decomposing in the jungle can go on Mr Toad’s wild ride, then what’s the big deal about someone seeing the future? The mysterious events need to be more limited, focused, and tied together.
So if **I** had a chance to talk with the show’s creators, I would’t ask for explanations of outstanding mysteries - I’d urge them to make the characters and plots more believable, so that the mysteries will be more awesome - and more inevitable.
That’s my rant.

Doc, if you have your ears on: can you give us an estimate of when your D&C interview will be posted? I’ve been logging on to this site and Buddy TV every 15 minutes for the past six hours looking for it.

What’s that, your bad twin Doc? Nice try dude, but unless you are a child you’re one sad individual. I pity your insignifigance. Ask your mommy to make you some milk and cookies, and watch some Yu Gi Oh like a good little douchebag.

I’m fairly certain it would be “my boyfriend and I”….
The twin theory bares some signifigance but I think it has more to do with parallel existance converging into one place, the island.
I think Cap10 touched on this somewhere..or I just like to give him a shout out occasionally….I read so many of these damn things that I can’t remember who said what…
I’ll ask my boyfriend and get back to you….

Sorry if that really was you posting Doc. I guess you get so many pointless (negative) posts on here that I felt like you were being punked. Anyway, I got your back holmes.
Shout out to you El Prez. By the way Prez, what’s your big theory? I’d love to hear it…

You don’t explain why Locke isnt on the plane this time.
And how did Locke keep the sickness away?
Also to the person complaining about the unrealism of the characters…
When Sawyer let Karl go Karl took the boat. While walking back to camp Kate and Sawyer began arguing about what to do about Jack, Sawyer then says how he knows the only reason kate screwed him was that he was alive, same reason why she said she loved him… so he wouldn’t die. He felt used and realized the girl he wants doesnt want him, which is also why he told Karl to go get the girl he wants.
And the Hurley episode- don’t bitch about it. Not every episode in the show advances the storyline, but come on… its the first time in all of season 3 I have heard more people happy with the episode then complain about it.
The Hurley not asking about Kate and Jack… he saw Sawyer why bring everyone down by asking a potentially unhappy question.
And about the van- there’s a smoke monster, whispers, amazing healing powers and you can’t suspend belief that Roger Workman’s van is fully stocked and loaded with fluids and gas??? Come on dude.
Kate finding Rousseau- Where the hell else would the crazy French chick be? You have no problem suspending belief in the really out there parts but the easier to bleieve things… Kate finds Rousseau, Sawyer is angry at Kate for basically picking Jack or still being undecided, Hurley hugging Sawyer and not asking a tough question these are the things you complain about???
Really?

Hey whose the ultra-intelligent guy? You are hilarious. You’re probably not a loser at all. Seems you meet all the qualifications to be our next president. Maybe you and Cheney could go on hunting trips together. You’re special…
