Doc’s LOST Part One - The Case of The Forgotten Twins

Lost Mythology — March 5, 2007 at 10:47 am by DavidHume

lost-forgotten-twins-01.jpgLet’s take a trip back through time to the LOST season one finale Exodus, Part 2.  The harrowing kidnapping scene that left a noticeable child shaped hole in the plot, and was the impetus for our almost unanimous loathing of the phrase "My Son".  Certainly one of the creepiest moments in LOST, eclipsed by the anti-climatic opening of the hatch, but a favorite to be sure.

On board the rickety boat, to the left of Mr. Friendly, sat a pair of twins.  They were not obvious at first, and when people first began to pick them out there was controversy over whether or not the twins even existed; finally, however, the producers came forward with confirmation that there were absolutely twins on that boat, and that this fact would become quite important in the future of the show.  Since then, we haven’t seen a single set of twins.  Is this an abandoned portion of the plot, or a revelation that the LOST maestros are just not ready to let go of yet?  Is there even more to this twin incident yet to be revealed?

Back when Exodus was first aired,  I posted this alarming screen cap:

It doesn’t take a huge leap to believe that the man standing behind Hurley, a flight attendant, is the same actor playing at least one of the twins on Mr. Friendly’s pleasure yacht.  Like the fact that the twins were not made obvious to begin with, is the fact that one of the actors appears in the flashback a significant clue, or is this just an over-worked extra.

The find has haunted me since the beginning and later, as more and more clues began to pile up, led to my ’story’ for LOST.   It’s all about a flight attendant named ‘Jacob’, and the twin brother he never had.
