Doc’s LOST Part One - The Case of The Forgotten Twins
Let’s take a trip back through time to the LOST season one finale Exodus, Part 2. The harrowing kidnapping scene that left a noticeable child shaped hole in the plot, and was the impetus for our almost unanimous loathing of the phrase "My Son". Certainly one of the creepiest moments in LOST, eclipsed by the anti-climatic opening of the hatch, but a favorite to be sure.
On board the rickety boat, to the left of Mr. Friendly, sat a pair of twins. They were not obvious at first, and when people first began to pick them out there was controversy over whether or not the twins even existed; finally, however, the producers came forward with confirmation that there were absolutely twins on that boat, and that this fact would become quite important in the future of the show. Since then, we haven’t seen a single set of twins. Is this an abandoned portion of the plot, or a revelation that the LOST maestros are just not ready to let go of yet? Is there even more to this twin incident yet to be revealed?
Back when Exodus was first aired, I posted this alarming screen cap:

The find has haunted me since the beginning and later, as more and more clues began to pile up, led to my ’story’ for LOST. It’s all about a flight attendant named ‘Jacob’, and the twin brother he never had.

Who is the ghostly figure standing behind the two twins in the boat? Is this him? Is this Jacob?

Dunno…looks like Edgar Winter to me. ;P
Discounting Doc’s overworked extra caveat, I’d say it’s possible that one of these guys may have just been another passenger who got rescued by the Others. If Jack wound up in the jungle, and Bernard wound up in the jungle, is it really such a big stretch to think that other passengers may have been deposited at various spots on the island as the different sections of the plane came down, wound up alone, and then when willingly with anyone who might have shown up?
The truth will maybe become a bit more clear when we get more on what happened to Cindy. If she really has no connection to everything, we’ll know that they take some adults for the “better life” scenario, too.

In my ’story’, (I don’t call it a theory, because it isn’t likely to be true), the flight attendant is Jacob, as in the Jacob who made a mysterious list…. More in the next post…

Too much time on your hands Doc………..

Talk about trying too hard to believe the writers aren’t lying to you about their plan.

“Since then, we haven’t seen a single set of twins.”
This is not true. A pair of twins - not sure if it was the same pair - showed up a couple of times in the latter episodes of the second season.

Jack has a twin working in the arctic station that informed Desmond’s fiance or whatever that there was another atmospheric disturbance. This was at the end of Season 2.
There’s your other set of twins.

Bruce Dickinson (when he went solo before coming back again to Iron Maiden) in his album “Accident of Birth”(1997)wrote a song named “Darkside of Aquarius”. It talks about spinning THE WHEEL OF DHARMA. Now, this song came out in 1997 - way before LOST. Talks about all kinds of things… Could this be a key to what DHARMA really means? Anyone have a CLUE to what this could be? What is the darkside of aquarius?
I found the lyrics. Read below… What do you think?
Accident of Birth - 1997
“Darkside of Aquarius”
(B. Dickinson/ Roy Z)
The first hellrider came, on wings of plenty in the dark,
poured out his poison and he blew away his mark
The fascist from the east is coming,
mothers hide your sons
The second hellrider came,
from flaming seas and molten sands
Pipers playing hell’s commands, poured out his poison
And his promises of promised lands,
blackened tongues of lying leaders
Here come the riders
As the wheel of dharma’s running out of time
Here come the riders
As the wheel of dharma’s running out of time
The third hellrider came,
teaching brothers to kill brother men
And the fourth hellrider waits
on an acid trip for an acid world
Wars of old religious fools and superstitious men,
throw some scary tarot cards and…
Here come the riders
As the wheel of dharma’s running out of time
Here come the riders as the revolution’s stepping into time
The dark side of Aquarius
Has robbed us of our souls and minds
Here come the riders
As the wheel of dharma’s running out of time
From the starlit sky, on a silver sea,
a lonely silver surfer, comes to push the wheel for me
a lonely silver surfer, comes to push the wheel for me
Gotta move, gotta move,
gotta move the wheel right round
Gotta move, gotta move,
gotta move the wheel right round
Gotta move, gotta move
Gotta move that wheel around
Gotta move the wheel of dharma
Gotta move the wheel of dharma
Gotta move the wheel of dharma
Gotta move the wheel of dharma around
Gotta move the wheel of dharma
Gotta move the wheel of dharma around

Dharmacakra
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Dharmacakra (Sanskrit) or Dhammacakka (Pāli), Tibetan chos.kyi ‘khor.lo, Chinese făln 法轮, “Wheel of Dharma” is an auspicious symbol representing a dharma (law) in Hinduism and the Buddha’s teaching of the path to enlightenment. It is also sometimes translated as wheel of doctrine or wheel of law. A similar symbol is also in use in Jainism.
History:
The Dharmacakra symbol has the form of a wheel with eight or more spokes (sometimes 24 spokes representing the solar cycle). It is one of the oldest Hindu and Buddhist symbols, found in Indian art from the Vedic time and the time of the Buddhist king Aśoka, and used by all Buddhist nations ever since. One version of the symbol, taken from the capital of a pillar erected by Aśoka, is found on the flag of the modern state of India. In its simplest form, it is recognized globally as a symbol for Buddhism.
Symbolism:
A simplified version of the DharmacakraThe eight spokes represent the Noble Eightfold Path of Buddhism. They are said to have sharp edges to cut through ignorance.
Other symbolisms in the eight-spoked Dharmacakra in Buddhism:
Its overall shape is that of a circle (cakra), representing the perfection of the dharma teaching
The hub stands for discipline, which is the essential core of meditation practice
The rim, which holds the spokes, refers to mindfulness or samadhi which holds everything together
The corresponding mudrā, or symbolic hand gesture, is known as the Dharmacakra Mudrā.
The Dharmacakra is one of the eight auspicious symbols of Tibetan Buddhism.
The dharma wheel can refer to the dissemination of the dharma teaching from country to country. In this sense the dharma wheel began rolling in India, then arrived in China, and then to Korea

I’ve always thought that the reason Charlie and Cindy were both in the front of the plane when it crashed and then ended up on the Lostie beach like Charlie and the Tailie beach like Cindy was because they each have a twin. There is just no other way, unless the crash was staged.

Doc,
Twins appeared in “Live Together, Die Alone”.

At least, I’m pretty sure they’re twins.

Not sure if they are twins, but it looks like alex is copping a feel….
Comment by Lessthancory — March 5, 2007 @ 3:22 pm
Lessthancory,
Alex isn’t copping a feel. When you watch the scene, she accidently grabs Kate’s breasts before quickly switching the position of her hands.

Do you think that even if the writers do get around to explaining this, that anyone will remember that these two guys were on the boat? Their significance will be lost because it’s taken so much time in between when we saw them and when we find out why they were there.
Comment by Sean York — March 5, 2007 @ 10:22 pm
This is speculation but I have always wanted clarification… I wish I knew where I read this but weren’t Ethan and Goodwin twins??? not identical obviously but I swear I read this somewhere.
Comment by Nat — March 6, 2007 @ 1:24 am
Very interesting! You’re gonna ask Carlton and Damon about this right??

The twin on the left (smiling) from the image of the boat looks a LOT like Michael Vartan, who played Vaughn in ‘Alias’ and has hence worked with Abrams before. His IMDB profile is available at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0890232/ . Anyone agree?
