Lost - Stranger in a Strange Land Spoilers
I realize I’ve been a little late on the draw with spoilers lately, but the drought is coming to an end, starting with a few discoveries regarding ‘Stranger in a Strange Land’.
We all know by now that Stranger in a Strange Land is supposed to answer three mysteries, but not what they are. Through the tidal wave of previews and LOST moments it’s pretty easy to deduce:
1 - What do Jack’s tattoos mean. If you’re with me, you’re saying ‘who cares’! Seriously, I don’t care how Jack got his tats or what they mean… now. What I’m hoping is that the LOST maestros have figured out a way to make this relevant. I’m guessing they will.
2 - What happened to Cindy. Some will consider this the same mystery as number three, I’d defend that by saying that Cindy disappeared about halfway to the beach camp and seemingly vanished into thin air. It was one of the more chilling moments in LOST history. Are we finally going to find out how they pulled that off? Let’s hope!
3 - What happened to the tailies that were kidnapped, including the kids. In the LOST moment featuring Cindy, we no doubt saw some of the tailies milling about. What we probably won’t learn is why they seem to be there willingly. No doubt another loose end that will have to flap a little longer, but wouldn’t it be great if they spilled the beans?
From the previews we see that Juliet is in a jam. Diana Scarwid appears as what is rumored to be the ’sheriff/judge/jury’ of the others, some kind of investigator trying to determine if Juliet will live or die. Jack is instrumental in all of this. Promo pics show that Ben is awake and talks to Jack in this episode. Now, what about the ending?
With a little freeze framing on promos posted at DarkUfo’s site I uncovered a couple of frames that look pretty much to tell how the episode ends up.
First, that is Jack, Friendly, some dude, and Ben on a row boat. Some speculate this shrouded person is Danny’s body, I say Ben because a head is visible and it looks a bit like Ben.

I know it’s just a blog but…do you ever spell check?

Now that is a totally empty comment Jeramie… where is the misspelling? The answer is yes, I use word… and I use FireFox which also spell checks. In the future, if your going to nitpick for errors, you might want to be prepared to point out the error. Not that it is a big deal because, as you said, its only a blog…

Did anyone see the LOST moment for this week, when Tom tells Jack about glass houses? I think we’ll see some of Jack’s serious flaws in a flashback…what exactly did he get himself into in Thailand? I doubt it was just a couple of tats and a good time….I can’t wait to see this episode!!!
I doubt it will spur the same kind of speculation as last week’s time travel possibilities but it should figure in to a more in depth look at Jack and his new relationship with the others…who thinks that if they could get off the island, they’d go ahead and let the good doctor die?? as it stands now, he’s the only one who can cure the sniffles….
Which is amazing unto itself, that he performed a surgery as in depth as spinal tumor removal with rudimentary means…That OR looked as sanitary as a gas station bathroom….The folks on Grey’s Anatomy couldn’t have done that!!

As for Captain Nitpick’s comment above, I think he must be referring to the last sentence in the opening paragraph…”it’s pretty easT to deduce:” which wouldn’t be cought by a spellchecker. Perhaps he meant to just say “proof-read”. And perhaps he should pay attention to when Tom talks to Jack about glass houses.

Oh, and a short list of people who really need to die…
Claire (had the baby, time to go (so what if she could be jacks sister)
Charlie (We know all about him, what else is there to tell? ((would be fun to see him go back to the H train, and take care of the kid….priceless)) )
Nikki (die, please)
Palo (swim out to sea and kill yourself).
Juliet (shes good, but i think shes gonna end up dead)
Kate (who really gives a s*** about Kate anymore)
All the children and Cindy (they been gone so long i dont even miss them, or care)
Walt and Mikes (boat simply sinks)
Rose and Benard (die together like Adam & Eve)
_____________________________________________________-
We need to see more of these people:
Ben (great actor, the show needs this man)
Locke (the show would be dead to me if anything were to happen to this man)
Jack (another great actor)
Desmond (whenever he’s on screen he just steals the show((Christ do u remember when they had a scene with Desmond and Palo? How sad was it to see what a difference these two actors are, Palo… kill ur self, please?)))
and find a way to bring back Calvin Edmond (another actor Lost could use back).

If you recall the season 2 finale, Kelvin rescues an unconscious Desmond from the shore. This could be a looping point for Des. I’m sure he feels major guilt over killing Kelvin (especially since he ultimately offerred Des to go w/ him), so if he looped to the point where he regains consciousness he could handle that situation differently. Ultimately this would bring back Kelvin (who I agree is a good actor and interesting character).

I do believe they have to get back to Michael and Walt at some point though. There’s too much surrounding them to just let it go. I want to know more about Walt’s powers, and Michael is in need of some serious redemption. Walt really seemed to be a key early on in the show. It would be a shame if they just said, “they made it off the island because we couldn’t contractually get Michael back or we couldn’t explain Walt’s growth.”

As far as Jack’s tattoos go, my tatto guy told me it had something to do with the term “leader.” I’ve recently wondered if Jack would somehow be groomed to be the new leader of the others. It could also come into play as Jack was/is an unwilling leader to the lostaways. Perhaps he will begin to find the resolve to get to the bottom of things while leading the lostaways back home.

Aw, c’mon now…he did use an emoticon. You can be as rude as you want as long as an emoticon is used.
I think the story is getting too confusing for occasional viewers to follow. This kind of show, with so many characters and plot twists, would have never survived a decade ago. The difficult part for me with this show is that it really tells the story in a way a novel might, and with a novel you can read as much as you want and finish the story. I also think the long break over the summer (naturally), followed by the long break after the first 6 episodes was a poor idea on the part of ABC and they’ll only continue to lose viewers over the life of the show. Overall though, pretty good show and a money maker for ABC.

Great show - great characthers. But we definetly need to get Mr. Eko back. The show needs to tell more about desmond, locke and jack. I dont really care about the stupid others, they are NOT at all as bad as I thought they would be. Lets hear more about the black smoke and the black rock - and where the hell is danielles flashback?
Denmark out
