Lost Foilers - How not to Fake a Script Page
Got this little number from a mysterious "insider" who claims access to the writing rooms trash. First of all, I think I remember stories concerning the high level of security given to LOST scripts. (Of course, the call-sheet incident of last season certainly showed a few holes in that process, but anyways.)
I’m positive, though, that any rejects are shredded. None-the-less, our Mysterious "insider" sent me several pages he claims are from an early draft of "Not in Portland". There are several reasons to believe this is fake, since you need to see the page I’ll do that after the link.

Aside from that, the wrinkled page effect is too obvious. There are some pretty substantial wrinkles in that paper that do not warp the text at all. To be fair, in some places the text does look warped, but not in all.
Aside from this there are a few style errors, but of course the sender defended this by saying it was from an early draft that had not been proof-read.
All in all, I have to say… thanks friend, but sorry. I don’t buy it! What do you folks think?

the click to enlarge doesnt work for me

I fixed it. Once you do it, though, you might need to click on the pic with the magnifying glass to see it full size. Alternatively, you can right click over it and save the image to your desktop and look at it with the viewer of your choice.

You might want to warn that the script has foul language in it Doc…

This is obviously fake, they cant say most of those words on tv and they would never write it if they have to change it.

Actually, this IS the writing style for the LOST writers. Check out the script on season one dvd. It is saturated with the ‘F’ bomb.

So has this person you know who claims to have seen S3E07 told you anything about the episode? I’d consider that sort of information quite a bit more compelling than a potential foiler script page.

The only compelling thing about this is that the faker faked the writing style of the real deals fairly closely.

srry whenever i click the image it goes to a page that cant be viewed
Comment by dallas — January 8, 2007 @ 5:17 pm
Looks convincing enough. You’d have to ask yourself, why wouldn’t the “faker” just print it off, scrunch it up, and re-scan it? Rather than adding computer-wrinkle effects? It looks to me that that’s what has happened.
None of the curse-words are in dialogue, the style is all there (after reading many scripts from DVDs/Magazine etc.) — I’m just a little annoyed that I read this now as I try to avoid spoilers, assuming that this was indeed a foiler! Might want to put a ‘Possible Spoiler’ warning in future.

ok got it nvm

I don’t buy it. There doesn’t seem to be any genuine spoilers in there that haven’t been spoiled elsewhere - including the recent promo showing Kate and Sawyer leaving in a boat. To me, it looks like someone took all the spoilers available and then constructed a fan fiction-esque scene of how they would imagine they would play out.

Rookie… this guy should’ve printed the page, then have wrinkled it… theeeeen scanned it on the computer… Amateur… lol…

they use the F* word not in speech, they use it to explain motivation_

Sound like something that the LOST producers would do though, make us think sawyer is about to die and then kill pickett. Also iv heard from many different places that pickett will get shot by juliet, so it could well be real.

Seems to me like an educated forgery. The wrinkled paper effect is absurd. The letters are clearly superimposed on a wrinkled-paper image. That being said, it’s been pretty widely suspected for some time now that Juliet is going to kill one of the Others, and the logical choice is Pickett. I think anyone who saw the DVD commentary Doc mentioned could have used their writing style to fabricate this. i think Juliet will shoot Pickett, but I think this particular scene is fan-fiction.

Yea this is definately the style of writing that the writers use. I was actually suprised the first time I saw how violently they swear in the scripts, so this is as real to me as any. If this was faked, it was certainly done with care.

There’s some new LOST Moments and a new preview over at abc.com in case yall didn’t know.

Some genuine script pages do indeed contain profanity, but usually only as far as the character in question would feel/think/react and, when used correctly, is the best way for a writer to get a specific emotion across. Take Sawyer for example, some of his looks are just piercing and you know there are a few F’s flashing before his eyes. Walt however…I doubt it.
“If this was faked, it was certainly done with care.” I agree (apart from when it was screwed up to look wrinkled!) and i’m not sure I buy it…

If you have an TFT or LCD monitor you just have to look at your screen down-sides you’ll see that the wrinkeld page is the background and the text is surrounded with small multi-coloured pixels witch means it is pasted or just typed on the background. My guiss is that this so cald script is fake but that doesn’t mean the content is fake, only the faul language is too much for a LOST episode…
Comment by Stef From Belgium — January 11, 2007 @ 7:34 am
the swear words in it are’nt meant to be said by the character they are motivation for the looks they are supposed to give and the body language they are supposed to use.
Comment by Callum — January 11, 2007 @ 12:01 pm
Heh, such a fake. Spelling errors, script writing errors… horrible job. First of all, the person should know that the names are in all-caps (”KATE”) only when they first appear in the script and on top of their lines.
And yes, the scripts are full of f-bombs, but that doesn’t matter at all, because the f-bombs are only in the script, not on the material that is aired.
Comment by Remus — January 12, 2007 @ 12:22 pm
I can’t say if this is a legit script page but the foul language can’t make it a fake. The language isn’t dialog but direction for the actor to understand the emotion for that scene. Nothing wrong with doing that on a show that can’t use the profanity.
