Is There A Lost Curse?
The Honolulu Advertiser has posed the inevitable question: Is there a LOST curse? Personally, I think its a lot of phooey. But since things are so slow, why not give their data a glance:
Oct. 21, 2005: Actor Josh Holloway (Sawyer) and his wife were bound and robbed in their Hawaii Kai home by a masked gunman. The robber made off with cash, credit cards and Holloway’s Mercedes-Benz (later retrieved).
Oct. 21, 2005: Hours after the Holloway home invasion, "Lost" actor Harold Perrineau (Michael) was followed for 20 minutes by two men in a car as he drove toward fellow actor Daniel Dae Kim’s house. Perrineau tried to evade the stalkers, but it wasn’t until he pulled his car over and called Kim (who plays Jin) on his mobile phone that they turned and sped away.
Dec. 1, 2005: New cast members Michelle Rodriguez (one of several cast members to have already run afoul of the law for speeding) and Cynthia Watros were arrested for drunken driving. Honolulu police pulled the two over after their vehicles were spotted weaving along Pali Highway. Both pleaded guilty, and both women’s characters — Rodriguez’s Ana Lucia and Watros’ Libby — were gone from the show by season’s end.
Sept. 2, 2006: Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Mr. Eko) was arrested for disobeying a police officer and driving without a license. The charges were dropped when Akinnuoye-Agbaje provided proof that he possessed a license. He didn’t get off as easily on the show — he was killed by a smoke-monster in the first half of this season.
Dec. 20, 2006: Lilly’s rented home burns to the ground, but no one is hurt.

Now before I say this i want to get somthing clear.
I love your site but…
Who cares? This isn’t news. This is actually anti-news!
I know its slow, but come on…
About a week ago Brian K. Vaugne (an award winning comic scribe) joined the staff of LOST writers.
Thats real news and it didnt get a blurb. A few people even mentioned it in various threads here, hell I sent you an
e-mail about it.
Now it seems prety obvious to me that Comic Books and LOST share an audience. So how bout an article about that?
Instead of stories about ghosts, goblins, and actors that are to stupid to not drive drunk.

news or not, it makes for some interesting reading anyway, Watchmen.
What comic did he write?
Has anyone heard any more news on the LOST video game?

BKV has done great on work just about every major character from Marvel and DC. But I would say his most impressive writing has been EX MACHNIA and Y: THE LAST MAN. Two series that he created, niether of them are conventional superhero books and both of them have been optioned for film and TV.
I would think thats part of the reason he was snapped up by lost.

Right you are Watchman. I shall work on getting something together.

Hawaii isn’t exactly the beautiful place everyone thinks it is. There’s a lot of drugs and homelessness among the island(s)What happened to Josh H. was unfortunate in the fact that these guys chose him, it very well could have been anyone else. Those things happen. In Hawaii you either have to be rich or poor to live there. It’s terribly expensive. So no doubt there is going to be crime. As far as the drunk driving goes they just made bad decisions, it’s really not a curse. Oh and poor Evangeline Again something just very unfortunate. As with all the incidents glad no one was seriously hurt. In all that has happeend with the cast there very well could have been deaths involved.

I think it’s more ironic that Evangeline house burned down as her character was/is being chased for arson and the death of her father. Same with sawyer ironic he was held at gun point. Michelle being stopped by police. It’s more ironic than a curse.
Comment by H — December 28, 2006 @ 12:41 am
Is this supposed to mean something? Honestly it me, it means that the cops in Hawaii actually do their job, someone wanted to rob a well-off person, and that Evangeline’s house caught on fire. Granted that might have been arson, but I fail to see this “Lost curse”. Nothing has happened to Holloway’s character on the show and I seriously doubt the writer’s would kill off Kate. And if I’m not mistaken both Libby and Ana-Lucia are returning in flashbacks so really, what curse?
Comment by lostfugitive — December 28, 2006 @ 8:25 am
Dear friends, that article was for a mainstream publication. The mainstream viewers could quite easily be captivated by a “curse” story like this because they don’t know any better. They don’t know that Banana Lucia will return in flashbacks, etc. It’s just fluff to be digested, then turn the page to crosswords.

I to would like to know more about the lost video game.
As for Lilly’s home… Kate clearly had to have been involved =)
Lost should hire Hawaii’s Dog the Bounty Hunter for protection!i

IRONIC INDEED!
And Eko left because he wanted to go do his own thing! Just like how he wouldn’t do what smokey told him.
Very interesting my friend.

I think the “curse” is just pissed off cause the show doesn’t answer any questions, so it’s giving people DUIs and burning down their houses.
Comment by mj — December 29, 2006 @ 7:51 pm
So what are we left with?…
A robber going after a famous, wealthy, and at that time very unsecure actor’s home… nothing mystical about that when you think about it.
WAAAAAAAAALT Dad’s followed by who knows who. Could have been crazed fans for all we know… non-story.
Runny McRunnerson’s house burning down. As the news has said: Homes in Hawaii may be more susceptible than in other states. “We have a very humid climate and we have a lot of rain that can get into walls and start to corrode the metal,” said Rogers.

She is renting and *sharing* some average, old and inexpensive (by Hawaii standards) house. Sometimes they catch on fire. Happened to be the house she was renting.
