Hiatus Relief Begins!

It’s a desperate situation. The last several weeks have left us with broken spirits. All we hear is how Heroes is answering all its questions (won’t have anything to talk about next season, but hey). Day Break is awesome, but the fans aren’t biting. Let’s face it. We all have the got no LOST blues. And it aint pretty. Are we just going to stand-by and let the fact that we have TEN MORE WEEKS of no new LOST get us down? Hell no!
So I raided my closet, and every week we are going to introduce a new contest. A contest built around celebrating the creativity of not only LOST, but the brilliant fan community that has risen around it. I have autographed screenplays, autographed pics, soundtrack cd’s, books, you name it! Phase one is already under-way… more about that in a bit.
In the meantime, if you need something to watch, check out my article at Buddytv. I was assigned the task of finding five television shows that could satiate the same nerve centers LOST lives in; essentially, my goal is to give you some kind of LOST like experience. Kinda like chocolate and morphine for heroin, I suppose.
Now. Contest Number One!
As described in my previous post, the goal of this contest is to write your own ending for LOST. It can be prediction, it can be original, it can even be built around a discredited theory… as long as it is yours.
The contest plays out in the forums, so you need to sign up and I’ll give you the thread in a second. On December sixth, a group of LOST luminaries from around the web will peruse the thread and pick their favorite endings. These endings will be published here and a poll will be placed in the forum where the community at large can vote on their favorites. I’m sticking with the forums since the last time we did polls here, the Brazilians tried to shill Rodrigo Santoro into a recurring role.
This weeks prize is a signed copy of “Two for the road”, YES the episode where ANA and LIBBY get killed, and it is up for grabs! (The script is signed by Elizabeth Sarnoff and Christina M. Kim, the writers of Two for the Road.) The script includes DELETED scenes and dialog and is a hell of a fine piece of screen-writing.

All we hear is how Heroes is answering all its questions (won’t have anything to talk about next season, but hey)
Yeah, lack of story ideas has been an achilles heel of the superhero genre for the last 70 years or so…

Heroes is doing a fine job. Let’s not bash it until they actually run out of decent story ideas. So far the show is progressing nicely.

I just wondered if you would post some scans of the script so the more uncreative of us could see it. I’ve never actually seen a script and Two For the Road is a great episode. Thanks.

Heroes is better television than Lost at the moment. Heroes draws strength from its ensemble cast like Lost did originally, but significantly has multiple active story threads - Lost typically has the traditional alpha/beta dual story threads running, especially true of late.
Lost has also focused too closely on select handfuls of characters, whereas Heroes typically features half of the primary cast and at least two of the catalytic characters (Peter, Mohindre, Hiro and soon Cop Bloke).
Finally - Lost is definitely the most original concept of the show, but has never managed to quite balance questions/answers. But at the moment Heroes has characters that are more enjoyable to watch than a bunch of captive or leaderless chuckleheads stranded on an island, particularly after recently killing-off one of the more interesting and entertaining characters.

Funky Weasel, if you hate LOST so much and love Heroes so much then WHY are you on a LOST fan site?? Why don’t you stick to the Heroes fan sites so you can be with your own kind? I like Heroes as well but it is nothing compared to LOST.

The way that I would end lost would be that they are really one big family. They are all realted, cousins, second cousins twice removed. Jack and Freckles are actually brother and sister. All clones from the original “others” placed there by the Dharma crew. The two original groups would have been divided into good and evil..and left on the island to”go forth and mulitply” as a “superior race” of people..as an experiment. The black smoke monster is a way of either keeping a no mans land between the two settlements, and Patchy is like Benry to another group of Others..All financed by the Hanso foundation. Perhaps part of the experiment was to let some people back into the “real world”..or some escaped…How they got them all back on the same plane I don’t know. I think the “vacine” is all a bunch of hogwash..just another social experiement. The end

Don’t get me wrong. I love Lost but I’ve also grown quite fond of Heroes as well. I think it’s just so easy to say Heroes is so much better AT THE MOMENT due to this hiatus. Once Lost gets back on the air in february, I’m sure I will be a fan of both shows equally. It’s just that Heroes has a new episode on pretty much every Monday night and it’s cold turkey for Lost!

It will be biggest shock of all!
Cancelled at the end of season 4.

Are you all high?? The writing on Heroes is awful. I stopped three episodes in.

What if Jack had dreamt the whole whole thing while waiting to get on the plane, like a premonition, and dies shortly after preventing the plain from taking off? Although successful, Jack has told one of the characters about the doomed flight in his premonition, and the following day, there’s a report of a missing flight, which isn’t ‘lost’ on the character Jack shared his vision with. That person does some research, and discovers some very interesting facts about the island. Perhaps something like, it’s Russia’s leftover version of Area 51, which is why it didn’t appear on any map, unless you know where to look.

Heroes just plain sucks. Personally, I can’t see how it is still on my TV. Besides, it replaced a show [Surface] that I enjoyed and Heroes’ story line is not much better.
As far as Lost goes, I think I am done. Last season was filled with commercials and now they choose to drop a bomb in its place for 13 weeks. I did not watch a single episode of Day Break. Changing the time slot will most likely lose me. ABC has never been a strong TV contender. I think their last BIG TV show was what… Blossom?

Not much on my mind worth mentioning. What can I say? My life’s been generally dull today. I’ve just been letting everything pass me by recently.

Three phrases should be among the most common in our daily usage. They are: Thank you, I am grateful and I appreciate.
