I expected so much more.

Im extremely upset with last nights episode… #1 it was only one hour.
#2 very predictable and its nowhere near the cliffhangers they gave us in seasons 1 and 2. the last 6 episodes have lived with jack saywer and kate and it got boring real fast. lets see how much time they can waste filming saywer and kate digging for rocks. or sitting in cages.
the content of this show has gotten so poor its like they dont care anymore. season 1 we bounced around through different characters and different events that were occuring throughout the island. there was suspense and mystery… im just extremely upset and im not at all looking forward to the rest of this season. I am a lost fan and will watch it to the end but with dissapointment

I expected way more too, especially considering we have to wait 12 more weeks to see a new one! What are we all supposed to talk about until February? They really dropped the ball on this one.

LOST is a one season story that they’re stretching out to six or seven for commercials and money making. Last night was a perfect example of that. I’m done with LOST on tv. I will buy the DVD after the season and hit the highlights. It was bull shit!
Comment by JoefromUtah — November 9, 2006 @ 2:49 pm
By far the worst episode of Lost i’ve seen. 1 star, complete let down. It’s just one episode though and i’m sure when it starts back up in February it will start to get really good.
Comment by Aeolian — November 9, 2006 @ 2:56 pm
You are all crazy. This episode was awesome. I can’t wait until February.
Comment by ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP — November 9, 2006 @ 3:00 pm
I am shocked that so many people on the poll so far are saying it was awesome. Are you serious??? Where was the twist we were promised that was supposed to fundamentally change the show? Did I miss it? Still love the show, but I didn’t like the episode.
Comment by anonymous — November 9, 2006 @ 3:08 pm
It’s possible that the twist is yet to come.
Comment by docarzt — November 9, 2006 @ 3:25 pm
Let me clarify… they said the episode would have a cliff hanger, and that a twist would come after it returns. Two twists actually…
Comment by docarzt — November 9, 2006 @ 3:26 pm
Did anybody catch Picket saying that JAck was “not even on JAcob’s list”? What was that??
Comment by Matt — November 9, 2006 @ 3:28 pm
For me it was a great episode!
I wasn’t really expecting jack blackmailing everyone…
For ME it was a very big cliffhanger
Comment by gala — November 9, 2006 @ 3:29 pm
Ohhh, I didn’t realize the twist was coming after the break. Okay good, then we still have something interesting coming after the break! February is such a long time to wait though!

I have loved loved this show since the beginnig. However, I thought last night’s episode was horrible. The worst ever! It was going along nicely until Kate and Sawyer had sex in the cage, and didn’t even try to get away at all. Okay, fine you are on a different island, but that island that you are on is still pretty big and you could have tried to get away and hide/make a plan to get Jack/to get to the other island/something. Instead, they have sex and cuddle in their open cage. yeah, okay that made so much sense.
As for the BIG cliffhanger. enh. It was pretty predictable! And now we’re supposed to believe that Kate and Sawyer will get a one hour start to go “where”…if they saw no reason to run before, why would they run now? stupid stupid
Comment by mel — November 9, 2006 @ 3:46 pm
Complete disappointment. Was that really the best they could come up with for Kate’s wedding/marriage backstory? Underwhelming at most. I’m really hoping things turn around in February or there’s going to be a mutiny.

Everybody is angry because of the 12 week break. The episode was good. Kate scenes were so so, but Jack was relly good, the best I´ve seen in a while actually. And yes, who is/was Jacob? It would be awesome if after the season starts after the break with a two hour episode. The show still awesome, the main problem I see is that the story is not moving forward fast enough. But hey, the season is just beggining it is too early to complain I guess. Other than the 12 weeks hiatus, still the best show on TV.
Comment by Ed — November 9, 2006 @ 3:56 pm
Wahay! Jack is finally an interesting character again!
Thought this episode was awesome, so much of it was well worked out. The others plan all along was obviously to get kate and sawyer together by putting them in cages together (sorta like stockholm syndrome) and have that rile Jack up enough to take on Ben’s offer. After all, if Jack thinks Kate has chosen Sawyer then he has no reason to stay on the island and in theory should carry out Ben’s surgery in return for a way back home.
Great twist with regards to Jack and the surgery though, I think that’s the only moment where the others plan has really gone wrong, you can see it in the way Tom looks - true fear.
Awesome episode. Okay, we didn’t get the big twists but they’re set to come not long after Lost returns. Can’t get why some are saying it’s the worst ever.

Can somebody please give me the full recaps on this epi or can somebody just tell me what the cliffhanger was ???

I’m not angry because of the 12-week break… I’m angry because I don’t even care. I missed the first two seasons on TV, so I watched them all back-to-back on my iPod and iTunes. I could not stop watching, stayed up until 4am many nights. there isn’t any kind of mystery or suspense driving me torward the next episode as there was in seasons past. Everything this season seems so shallow - the flashbacks have offered nothing new about the characters that we didn’t already know (excepting possibly Jack’s), it continues to ask new questions (Jacob?) instead of answers, and people act irrationally all the time. For example, Ben’s big scheme to get kidnapped, escape, then have Michael bring Jack and the others back in order to get Jack to operate on him… what? All he had to do was take him the first time he wandered into the woods after Michael and they let him go. Kate’s character has disintegrated, Sawyer is still ok, but Jack has reduced Matthew Fox to just different levels of canned rage. So plastic. TELL ME WHERE MY FRIENDS ARE! I’m sorry… I’m angry and e-pouting because the series has such incredible potential. Here’s to hoping they recapture the magic after the break.

Don’t be fooled by the poll. More people didn’t like the episode than those that did. It’s just that the people who didn’t like it are split up into two categories making the numbers seem smaller. This episode was clearly a flop.
Comment by poe — November 9, 2006 @ 4:39 pm
The one thing that was really interesting is how the Others knew the relationship bonds better than Jack/Kate/Sawyer knew them. Amazing that they figured out (probably prior to kidnapping them) that Jack has the hots for Kate who has the hots for Sawyer. I don’t think WE even knew who Kate was after.

I’ve been watching TV long enough to become extremely bored when fed another tired rehash of star-crossed lovers or love triangle. I don’t mind it as a sub-plot, but to make it the focus of the mini-season finale was unsatisfactory for me.
And, as others have noted previously, where is the ass-kicking Kate? It’s hard to believe that this is the woman who refused to take abuse and became a dangerous fugitive.
I totally agree that having sex in an open cage was weird. The last thing I would want to do is get caught naked by a bunch of creepy people with guns. Where’s your head, people?

Can somebody please give me the full recaps on this epi or can somebody just tell me what the cliffhanger was ??? Still haven’t got an answers.
Comment by stef from Belgium — November 9, 2006 @ 5:02 pm
How do they even know that they are on a different island? The Others are liars, right? So just because Ben showed him the other island, the original island where the plan crashed, doesn’t mean that it really IS a different island. For all we/Sawyer knows, those islands that Ben showed him could be in a completely different direction than then the island where everyone is stranded.

Worst. Episode. Ever. Kate’s character bores me to tears. One glaring difference this season is that the flashbacks contribute nothing to the plot - they’re just retreads of the backstories we already know. The whole kate-jack-sawyer thing has got to go. Jack should have moved on when he had a hot latina on his Jock. At least he sacked up in this episode. But seriously folks, it looks all downhill from here - that promo made me cringe - especially the part with Desmond saying “you don’t want to know what happend to me” and the CGI shite. Appearently Lost in now a melodrama. What a shame.
Comment by Two Sevens Sound — November 9, 2006 @ 10:42 pm
I don’t understand why everyone think this episode was so bad? I thought it was great. But that’s mostly because I loved the sawyer/kate scenes!! I can’t wait for february. I thought kate’s flashback was good too. And I do believe it contributes to the plot. You remember at the end, when she told him about who she really was? well, right before that he told her he was tracking down a con-man from Tampa or so. Maybe he was talking about Sawyer..

I was in love with LOST for 2 straight seasons. This season has made me actually HATE the show. How many seasons in do we have to be before they start answering some questions? Every episode is exactly the same. 55 minutes of nothing, then the last sentence of the show is always a “cliffhanger” in the sense that we’re supposed to think that we’ll find out the conclusion the next episode (or even this season!). Every episode proposes a big idea then the show never gets back to it.
The whole Kate and Sawyer thing is ridiculous. If Sawyer even breathes too deeply - someone sees him on camera, comes out, and beats him. Kate on the other hand can scale her way up the cage bars and out through the top. Then she can walk over to Sawyer’s cage. Take a rock and loudly bang on the lock until it breaks. No one’s coming yet…..hm. Well should we run? Nope. Let’s stay here, get naked, and have sex. Still no one’s come to punish them? Lame.
Also, this new island they’re supposedly on? Why is it that no one else has seen this island - considering that the majority of the cast from the plane have been around their entire island and not mentioned or seen another island 2 miles away and in plain view!? I don’t recall any part of an episode that involved taking Sawyer, Jack, and Kate on a boat to travel the 2 miles to this new mystery island. Anyone else? Last I remember they gave their one and only boat away to Michael.
There are so many holes in this show it’s ridiculous. Nothing makes sense, and the writers just keep piling on the bullcrap to make everyone forget.
At this point the writers are just digging their own graves because they’ll never be able to intelligently explain everything before the series ends. 2 more years and this show is cancelled.

omg, this is one of the best episodes ive ever seen. I am MAD about the kate/sawyer relationship and im so glad they finally did something abou that and they made it so beautiful. But why would they do it in the cage that is on view to everyone? I feel really sorry for Jack, cos i was always torn up about that cos i think jack and kate are quite cute togetha. But im happy kate and sawyer did it! I doubt Sawyer will get killed off, but i can’t wait for the next episode! But its in February!!!!. Can they really expect us to wait that long? Why have they taken such a long break, it’s not fair! Is it cos christmas is coming up? (But still, whats the deal with 12 WEEKS?????)
Comment by vic — November 12, 2006 @ 1:37 pm
why is everyone complaining so much? this is just the starting of season 3. this is a great great show. don’t give up on it. just GIVE IT TIME. it could only get better.
Comment by Stephanie Garcia — November 14, 2006 @ 5:13 am
Bah, 12 weeks for them to make up more plotlines and make us ask more questions. I wouldn’t be surprised that if it gets to Season 5, they will probably somehow find themselves in space fighting off alien invaders or some horse crap like that.
Ahh well who knows, I dont even think the writers know
Comment by Conor — November 14, 2006 @ 1:33 pm
Arrg. I totally disagree with everyone saying this episode was such a bust. I loved this episode, and not only this episode, the entire season has been great so far. I also liked season one and two, and I’m convinced the directors will make this season worth waiting. Even though waiting for February is hard, I doesn’t know why they would make it like that. I feel like the show just started, and know a break for months? That’s just insane.
And then it’s the many Islands. Well, I guess they are on separate islands, and we haven’t seen any other island before, but have we really seen everything around the island? At least I haven’t noticed.
And when no one notices Kate when she climbs out of her cage, cracks the padlock to sawyers cage, and then they decides to have sex, is understandable since everyone’s pretty busy with Ben’s surgery. And everyone was in the waiting room, and no one in the surveillance room. And ben sow Kate climb out of her cage the first time, and they didn’t do anything about it. But why didn’t Ben care to do something about it?
