Looking forward to the end
We are officially past the mid-point of the mini-season, which means only three more episodes before LOST goes back on hiatus for a grueling twelve-weeks! What will be very interesting to see is just how well the LOST producers will be able to keep the lid tight on spoilers. That is a lot of information (about six episodes worth) that will be warehoused in addition to the other episodes completed for after the hiatus, of which a lot has begun to seep already.
With that in mind, let’s think about the big "Jump the Shark" moment due to us in Episode Six of the mini-season. What could it possibly be? A recent synopsis of the episode may reveal at least who is the bearer of the Shark Jumping information:
"Jack makes a decision regarding Ben’s offer; Kate feels helpless when it looks like Pickett is going to make good on his threat to kill Sawyer; Locke discovers a hidden message that may help unlock the island’s secrets."

Jump the Shark? That’s the term used when a show that has gone on too long and has worn out it’s appeal… where something is done extreme(such as when Fonzy attempted to jump the shark on waterskis) to gain interest in a waning show.
I suppose that this is half way through the mini season, and I also suppose that the series is close to being half over… still, I don’t think that ‘jump the shark’ applies in this case.

Actually, it’s not an uncommon belief that the series is beating around the same bait-and-switch formula looking for new twists to rival the last. So it could be jump the shark on speed. But most of the use of this term in these two pieces is actually quoting Carlton Cuse who said once this big reveal happens people will think they have “Jumped the shark”. WHo am I to argue with Carlton’s proper use of biz terminology.

Whew! People will THINK it jumped the shark not that it actually will. I had to read that comment a couple of times. ^_^

Maybe someone has to jump over the Dharma shark literally, lol.

I recon it’ll be lockes thing if they do…but maybe it is just a jokey reference to someone jumping over a shark…maybe on waterskis…i think that might make me laugh…or smirk at least.

Yeah, I reckon it will be Lockes thing, and people will be all “OMG, they’re gonna solve everything about the island straight away, its only been one season, thats jumping the shark a bit!”
