LOST — Javi’s “MARVEL”-ous debut
It’s no secret I’ve a Javi fan-boy, (see Javi’s Greatest Hits) so naturally I will be hitting the stands for the first of his four-part series for Marvel comics "Super Skrull". Sadly, I am an entire coast away otherwise I could get this baby signed by Javi himself when he appears this wednesday at Golden Apple Comics on Melrose around, oh, five-ish.
After the Fantastic Four stopped the Skrulls’ attempted invasion of Earth, Skrull Emperor Dorrek invested vast resources into creating a superbeing of his own. Powered by an interstellar beam, the Super-Skrull has all the powers of the Fantastic Four. When the Super-Skrull first confronted the Fantastic Four, Mister Fantastic soon identified the power source involved and created a jamming device, depriving the Super-Skrull of his powers. The Skrulls quickly compensated and repowered the Super-Skrull, who disguised himself as Franklin Storm, the father of the Invisible Girl and the Human Torch, and again attacked the Fantastic Four. Mr. Fantastic discovered the truth and returned the Super-Skrull to his home planet, though Sue and Johnny’s true father was killed. Due to his ties to now-deceased Dorrek and his family as well as his repeated defeats at the hands of the Fantastic Four and other Earth heroes (including Thor, Spider-Man, Tigra, Alpha Flight’s Sasquatch, the Hulk, and the Kree exile Captain Marvel), the Super-Skrull has repeatedly fallen out of favor with his government. Due to his loyalty to his race and his extreme power levels, the Skrulls have found they have need of Kl’rt, and he has been recalled to serve the empire once again.
