With the LOST experience mere days away from launch, it’s time to pay close attention to what is "official" and what is not. Here is a short list of some of the bogus, yet interesting, fan sites that have popped up as of late:

There is an announcement on Mennesota Metallurgy (Henry Gale’s company) that they have acquired Strughold Mining Company which is the mine on X-Files where they found, amongst other things, medical records for millions of American citizens.
By all means visit these sites and celebrate the ingenuity of the fans behind them, but beware of any "clues" you might find there.
You may recall that inscribed on the blast door map was mention of a mysterious "valenzetti". A little bit of info on that has surfaced on the "official" site for faux author Gary Troup who apparently died in the crash of Oceanic Flight 815. Some folks have asked why a recent spoiler text changed here. The reason is simple. Back when "the incident" occured with a couple of the LOST actresses mentioned in the spoiler, I boycotted the news item from TheTailsection and shamed other sites for carrying what I considered to be personally damaging material. Well, when I published the spoiler I got called on the carpet by a few of you who remembered that and basically told me to get back into form and not be a gossip hound. So there ya go. Disney has finally reached an agreement to release the LOST VIDEO DIARIES. This project is actually a couple of months old… so, coming to a phone near you…
Disney-ABC Television Group’s Touchstone Television has reached agreements with the Writers Guild of America, west, the Screen Actors Guild and the Directors Guild of America related to Guild-represented production of "Lost Video Diaries," original mini-episodes inspired by the Emmy Award-winning series "Lost," designed for initial release on mobile platforms.
"The ‘Lost’ fans have an insatiable appetite for the characters and mythology of this series," said Mark Pedowitz, president, Touchstone Television. "Partnering with the Guilds in these groundbreaking deals, we will continue to provide the best original content to our audience whether they are watching ‘Lost’ in their living rooms or catching a mobisode on their cell phone. We look forward to finding additional ways in which we can work together to experiment on a Guild-represented basis in this new digital media arena."
Based on an original concept by the producers of "Lost," "Lost Video Diaries" will chronicle compelling tales from the island, inspired by events taking place on the broadcast series.
