LOST — LockeDown Recap Part One

Lost Recaps — at 6:30 pm by docarzt

" LOST" S02E17 Lockedown is, with little doubt, one of the most talked about episodes of "LOST" so far this season. Lockdown displayed that balance that has become the "sweet-spot" for "LOST", excellent pacing, intensity, well drawn and performed emotional turns, a touch of whimsy, and a whole lot of easter-eggs.

It is Locke centric and the theme seems to be betrayal, both of others and the self, and the commodity of trust. As usual, the themes presented in the flashback bleed over into real life as we see how the character in question, Locke, will react under similar circumstances.

We begin in flashback as Locke sereptitiously hides an engagement ring amongst a picnic lunch while Helen reads the obituries. She comes across an entry for Locke’s father and informs him that the funeral is that day.

Back in present "LOST" time, Jack and Locke are as creeped out by Gale’s little "if I were one of them" tirade as I was last week, so Jack orders Locke to put him back in the armory and cuts out. Henry seizes the opportunity to do a little more skull-tuning on Locke asking him "Why do you let him talk to you like that?"

We rejoin Sayid, Ana Lucia, and Charlie as they are on the verge of giving up the hunt for Gale’s balloon. At the last minute, however, they find it and an unmarked grave.

Arriving back at the beach, Jack does his rounds and comes upon Sawyer’s poker parlor. After a brief conversation with Libby about Sawyer’s ridiculous bartering rates, Jack gets a gleam in his eye that certainly spells trouble for the grifter.

In the hatch, Locke is working out to some Jazz when he hears a static infused female voice. He ventures off to investigate. Back in Locke’s flashback, he and Helen arrive as the only guests at Anthony Cooper’s funeral. Lcoke notes a couple of shady looking characters hanging nearby as well as a mysterious car with tinted windows. Locke says he forgives Cooper, and they leave.

LOST — Hatch Diagram Holy Grail

Lost News — at 6:39 pm by docarzt

Here it is folks! Special thanks to http://thelostnumbers.blogspot.com/ for the heads up on this: A perfectly readable enhancement of the hatch blast door map for ” LOST” S02e17 — LockeDown. Everything is readable with very minimal eye strain. In reading, it is obvious the author was not a member of Dharma but someone very familiar with the operation and the incident. Some notes indicate that the person who drew the map was under the 108 minute time constraint and isolated (”estimated travel time incompatible with 108 do not attempt to ______”). Could it have been Kelvin? Desmond? And if Kelvin was not a member or the D.I, who was he?

“Cerberus” activity is mentioned several times on the hatch map. “They’re all dead” theorists will be delighted to know that Cerberus guarded the entrance to hell, keeping the living out and the dead in. Hmmm.

Told Locke he could keep $200,000 if he can get the money out of the safety deposit bank for him. He’s leaving the country.

Lock gets the money goes home to Helen and the two men are there they question the two of them and check his backpack which just has papers in it. They leave and now Helen questions Lock.

He lies to her. He later goes to drop the money to his dad at the hotel (note the oceanic airplane landing) by the airport. Lock says he didn’t do it for the money but dad doesn’t really care about that.
Dad turns to leave and Helen shows up.
She followed lock and is devastated to find his dad there and she slaps his father.

LOST Season 2 — A tough hatch to follow?

Lost News — at 12:02 am by docarzt

“What is in the hatch?” has become one of the greatest TV cliff hangers of all time; in some minds besting “Who shot J.R.?”, “Who’s number one”, and “Who killed Laura Palmer”. In a day and age where ABC’s “LOST” has raised the bar for story-telling , all eyes are on what the creative team has cooking for an encore. Is it possible that the window for a comparable setup has passed?

At this point last season, “LOST” fans were already five episodes deep with the key question that would launch a world wide frenzy of speculation turning restlessly in their minds. Fueled by internet speculation on an unprecendented scale, “What is in the hatch” became an obsession for a large contingent of “LOST” fans. The theorys ranged from the enigmatic to the absurd, and all had one thing in common: none of them got it right. It was a coop seldom equaled in the history of television. With season two now in the imminent domain of the finale, and the growing question of what the crew will do to top last season, there seems to be something missing: anticipation.

For sure there is little in the way of new mysteries that rival the hatch in abstrusness. This has been a season divided between revealing new mysteries and answering old questions. The big question is: are they late in getting it started, or has the mystery been with us all along?

THE FORMULA: If the LOST masterminds follow the formula of season one, the finale will end on the verge of a major revelation concerning something we have been speculating about for a long time.

THE SUSPECTS: What riviting, unresolved plot point could be involved in the finale?

1. Walt. I wouldn’t say that audiences have particularly missed the young lad, but with what we have seen of Alex and the tail section children, these kidnapees come to “walk with the others”. Looked like they even raid the same costume closet. Are they brainwashed? Or do they just know something that makes it more worth their while to cooperate? The idea of convincing free spirited children to disobey their heart is a little far-fetched. The explanation could be pretty disturbing.

2. Are you him? Desmond seemed to know quite a bit more about what was going on before Jack showed up. Injecting himself with serum, freshly stocked pantry, LOTS of guns. The paranoid scot is hiding something. And just what was with the snowman riddle? Who was Desmond expecting?

3. Dad? Was it Walt? Was it one of the others? Definitely one of the best WTF moments this season. Who was on the other side of those instant messages in the hatch?

4. Chernobyl. The mysterious hallway in the hatch that seems to lead to a serious magnetic force. What could be back there? Will we find out?

5. Plane Crash. They have promised we will know how, and that the crash was no accident. Could it be the “why?” that will have fans salivating all summer for an answer? Could it be that one of our beloved losties brought Oceanic Flight 815 down?
