Daniel Dae Kim won’t be leaving our TV screens after Lost: he has signed on for a role in CBS’ upcoming reboot of Hawaii Five-O. He’ll take on the role of Detective Chin Ho Kelly, played in the original series by Kam Fong.
There’s another, much shorter clip for next week’s Lost episode, this time featuring just-resurrected (or whatever that is) Sayid with the rest of the survivors, and the folks at the Temple. It’s a pretty straightforward clip, but the implications of the conversation might be bigger than we imagine. Say, the question we had at the end of Tuesday night’s premiere: is Sayid now Jacob?

ABC released a new clip from next week’s Lost episode, “What Kate Does”, which pretty much amounts to Kate escaping Edward Mars after Oceanic 815 lands in Los Angeles. Last we saw her, she forcibly took a taxi with Claire inside it, and in this clip, we see, well, what happens next.
Libby and Hurley’s relationship may have been cut short, but here’s hoping this goes a bit better. Lost’s Cynthia Watros has snagged a recurring role on the Fox series House, appearing as the first wife - and new girlfriend - of Robert Sean Leonard’s character. Entertainment Weekly reports the role will be for multiple episodes.
Of course, Watros also returns to Lost soon, at the tail-end of this season.
Last night’s season premiere managed to snag 12.1 million viewers, up 12% from last year’s premiere. This is the first time a Lost premiere has improved year-on-year ratings: the show’s ratings have been on a steady (and understandable) decline since the second season’s premiere.
What was the meaning of Rose’s magazine or the book Desmond was reading on the plane? What was different about Hurley besides his good luck? And what do the TV shows Reaper and Supernatural have to do with Lost? The answers can all be found in the Easter Eggs for the season 6 premiere, “LA X.”
Lost’s sixth season has begun, and already there’s a lot to ponder about. Is Sayid really Jacob? What’s the point of the alternate timeline? Was Juliet really able to detonate Jughead? What’s the end game? We’ve got a week to talk about it. Your thoughts are welcome at the comments section.
Talking to Jimmy Kimmel shortly after Lost’s premiere, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse confirmed that the show’s series finale will be on May 23 - a Sunday. It could be because they’re trying to stter away from American Idol’s finale - it should happen by the end of May, too, around the same week as Lost’s finale - but do notice the number 23 on the date…
Talking to TVGuide.com, executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse hinted at the direction Lost’s final season will take:
- Cuse: “People are going to take sides [between Jacob and the Man in Black], but that doesn’t mean they’re not going to switch sides later on. It’s a little bit like baseball pre-season. You’re on a team, but there’s a lot of trading going on.”
- Cuse: “By the end of the premiere, you’ll have a sense of what we’re doing. We’re still doing the same thing we’ve always done on the show, which is island storytelling and off-island storytelling. It just now starts to take on a different form in the final season.”
- Lindelof: “Every mystery that is relevant to the characters on 815, if they don’t care about it, then it’s probably not going to be answered. So if it’s relevant to them or they’re asking a question, then it’s something that we’re going to deal with. But that’s the story that we’re telling.”
- Cuse: “We always felt like Lost was at its best when it was really surprising. We did things that were unexpected. We do have a few surprises up our sleeves for this season, which we think are really exciting.”
Talking to E! Online, Evangeline Lilly revealed that once Lost wraps up, she plans to drop off the radar first, before pursuing a career behind the scenes. “I love telling stories and I love this unbelievable group effort that goes into it,” she said. “I have a feeling I will probably want to have my fingers in that pot. I just haven’t found where that is yet.”
In a separate interview, Matthew Fox repeated that he’ll be leaving television after Lost, revealing that he’ll move to the Pacific Northwest to be closer to family. Josh Holloway, on the other hand, is now bent on finding a new gig after the show wraps up production in a few weeks.
